For years I have watched my health, slip slide down the hill. . . . "Oh it's not that bad, it will fix itself, health fanatics are self centered hypochondriacs. . . . I never want to be one of THOSE people!"
Pain, constant swelling, fatigue, extremely short fuse, brain fog thick enough to feel like blackout, all added to my list of (pretend it's not there, don't be a hypochondriac) till it literally hit me in the face.
There it was a tongue 3 times its size a throat swelling shut, and a body that felt like I had been hit, ran over, rolled down the hill, drug by a team of horses back up the hill and life still required me to go on.
Here is the problem . . . ER Doc, "allergic reaction, don't know what from, carry an eppi pen, take steroids, ? , and benadryl" five days later . . . . "hasn't gone away? hmm?"
MD Doc" It's yeast, take these pills 5 times a day" three days later . . . . ."hasn't gone away? hmm?"
Dentist "could be related to your cycle."
Sister "I saw a special, it's your thyroid."
Mother, "It's because you go to the doctor, just ignore it, you're just wanting attention"
Chiropractor, "Go off of gluten, corn, and sugar, it's shutting down your adrenal glands."
Now here is the big secret, months earlier I had asked for a Priesthood blessing, for an entirely different purpose . . . yet the blessing advised me . . . "you will find your answers through nutrition."
Now I don't know about you but I tend to be a little stubborn, ok, down right obstinate, even when I am told the exact answer to my problems. If it's not something I WANT to do, it doesn't do me a whole lot of good.
So my Father in Heaven loves me enough to give me some extra motivation. He hitting me right in the face. . . .. "remember, I gave you the answer to your problem, here I'll give you some added incentive."
24 hours off of gluten, processed sugar and corn, and the swelling in my gut was reduced by two inches.
4 days later- vision cleared up.
A week later- Clarity of mind
5 pounds lost, greater control over my temper, sleeping at night, waking in the morning. and here is the BIG BIG DOOZY! Five solid years of constant back pain . . . . . . gone! Well 90% might as well be gone after so much pain for such a long time.
Now for any normal person that would be testimony enough to never return to a processed life . . . oh not me! I question everyday if I actually need to live without it. Hence this wonderful blog to remind me of the blessings that come from discipline.
This blog is for me, to remind my very wayward soul that this journey is a blessing. This journey is worth it! This journey is a blessing from my Father in Heaven and only my laziness and lack of self control can rob me of the blessings due.
So here is my journey. I will list my successes, my failures, my recipes (cuz I gotta have yummy stuff to look forward to) and if you want to join me? Well, welcome to Hoky Poky Land!
